In 2015, a team from the Friends took part in a photo shoot at the old Aldershot Command Headquarters Building. This is part of the ongoing Friends project to photograph parts of Aldershot Military Town which will be given over to civilian development for the Aldershot Urban Extension (AUE).
Located at the junction of Queen’s Avenue and Allison’s Road. The building is Grade II listed and is made from Portland stone, rubbed brick and terracotta dressing.
The foundation stone was laid in 1894 by HRH The Duke of Connaught (Queen Victoria’s son) who was the GOC of the Aldershot Command.
The building was used by the army up until 2014. A new home for the Army Support Command was built as part of project Allenby/Connaught; Montgomery House was built in Hammersley Barracks and was official opened by Viscount Montgomery of Alamein in May 2014.
