On Saturday 25th June the Friends of the Aldershot Military Museum staged an open day in the Boyce room at the museum. Many items were presented by members and the Museum. We also had articles on loan from the RAPTC Museum.
Thanks goes to all involved, what a great day!

And there's more...
Thanks to Brian for providing these images.
There will be a great opportunity for everyone interested in our local history to explore our heritage in more detail at the Friends of The Aldershot Military Museum’s Open Day on Armed Forces Day, Saturday 25th June, at the Boyce Building of the Aldershot Military Museum.
In conjunction with the Museum there will be artefacts and photographic records, not usually in the public domain, on display. In addition, a number of local history enthusiasts will be showing items from their private collections, giving a rare chance to enjoy seeing a number of unusual historical items and to talk with their knowledgeable owners.
The Open Day also allows the younger generation to chat with members of the Friends who will be on hand to share their knowledge of Old Aldershot, and so learn more about their local heritage from the experts. During the day there will also be activities for children and young people to enjoy, with chances to try on some military uniforms, and to hear about the dress of soldiers from the past and the weapons they used.
Anyone with Aldershot memorabilia of their own are welcome to bring items along and share their memories with other people at the Open Day. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to talk to members of The Friends of the Museum and tap their fund of local knowledge.
Gerry Walters, Chairman of the Friends of the Museum, said: “We hope that the Friends of the Aldershot Military Museum will be able to bring our activities and achievements to the notice of as many interested people as possible, and if anyone would care to join us they can chat with our members to see what the group has to offer.”
The Aldershot Military Museum is, of course an attraction for all ages and is open as usual throughout the day. (Entry to the Friends’ Open Day is free but normal entrance charges will apply for the Museum itself.) The Friends of the Museum’s Open Day begins at 11.00 and closes at 15.30.
There is free car parking and refreshments will be available.
